- Working with industry in NEOMUNE
- Synopsis
Leadership and communication
To maintain creativity and enthusiasm, research groups are given significant freedom of work within the pre-defined NEOMUNE framework and the expected results. Scientific methods, analyses and networks are progressing faster than ever, and we do not expect that these remain the same over a 6-year project period. In close connection with the Governing Board, Scientific Advisory Board and Management Group, the program coordinator will supervise and assist in adapting work plans for the best possible outcome.
The program leader and the academic administrator have responsibility to communicate NEOMUNE results to the public. All participants will be encouraged to present results in a more popular form.
This website is established to allow the public to get access to general project information and some published results.
Meetings and result dissemination
A central place and time for wide scientific discussions and results dissemination is the annual NEOMUNE platform meeting. The NEOMUNE project relates closely to two European scientific societies: European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and European Society for Paediatric Research (ESPR).
In addition to the platform meeting, involving researchers and stake holders at all levels, the Management Group arranges one general meeting in Denmark that involve the current main research leaders and representatives of Governing Board and Scientific Advisory Board, aimed to evaluate the major research results and obtain consensus for decisions to be taken in relation to unforeseen challenges.
Training of young personnel in science and leadership
Besides the PhD students and post docs sponsored by NEOMUNE funds, the project creates training for a number of other young investigators. We will create a separate Young Investigator Forum (YIF) where the junior researchers, within and related to NEOMUNE, meet on a regular basis and share projects, results, challenges and successes. We wish to make flexible room for supplementary NEOMUNE project initiatives from this group, if the budget allows this.
Working with industry in NEOMUNE
We are aware of the potentials, complications and limitations of working closely with industry partners in NEOMUNE. The working relationship is guided by individual contracts with each industrial partner on specific parts of the project. Just as important, it is based on respect for the complementary values of university, hospital and industrial partners.
University, hospital and industrial partners will each have incentives and rights to file patents, or otherwise attempt to commercialize results, but only within the limits set by the individual contracts formed prior to start of the relevant NEOMUNE task in which the respective partner is involved.
Selection of industrial partners is based on careful scientific considerations, as well as the potential for both scientific and financial support from these partners. In addition to specific subcontracts among individual partners, we will at the start of the project period, establish a platform contract that specify the general conditions that guide all working relationships, legal responsibilities and confidentiality among university, hospital and industrial partners.
